About Us

Ziporah Janowski

Shane Diet & Fitness Resorts was launched in 2008 as natural extension of Camp Shane, the most famous familyweight loss summer camp, where they have helped thousands of kids and young women lose weight since 1968.

So many kids and young women lost so many pounds that the word spread to adults. So founder David Ettenberg and his wife, Ziporah Janowski opened Shane Diet & Fitness Resorts (by teaming up with Honor’s Haven Resort & Spa) and created the destination for grownups who want to change their lives (and have a cool vacation).

Ziporah Janowski, a trained attorney, was formerly the chief legal ethics officer of MMC, a global financial services company with 55,000 employees, and associate general counsel of Mercer, an MMC company. Ziporah joined Camp Shane full-time in 2007 and has been helping to expand Camp Shane’s programs since, including the creation and operation of Shane Diet & Fitness Resorts. She recently lent her expertise to two educational videos on DiscoveryHealth.org.

Ziporah believes in achieving a healthy weight and fitness level through moderation: eat a simple, whole foods based diet, participate in moderate exercise and seek mindfulness in your daily life.  She believes that each guest of Shane Diet & Fitness Resorts deserves respect and help in defining and achieving their healthy weight loss and fitness goals and that once a guest, always a member of the Shane family.

Ziporah also practices what she preaches.  She eats healthy, exercises and recently took up road bicycling.  She is excited to help people make a healthy change in their lives.
